The Promise of Wisdom

The Promise of Wisdom
It has almost become an epidemic.
Whenever I would ask my children to pick up the house, they would either pitch a fit in obvious defiance or play along the way - making what could have been a 10 minuet job take hours.
And I would grow so frustrated that I'd find myself "yelling" them into compliance.
And the whole cycle had not just become predictable, but it had also become habitual.
I was desperate. That was not the kind of mom I wanted to be. And I really did want to help my kids learn to pitch in and help bear the load of house keeping.
I claimed James 1:5
"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." (NIV)

And I went in my closet before I asked my kids to help me and I asked God to help me. I begged Him for wisdom.
Do you realize that when you humbly cry out for wisdom, God is not focusing on your past failings to correct or condemn you. He isn't smirking at you with an "I told you so" attitude. He is not finding fault.
Rather, He is, as Isaiah confirms (Isaiah 30:18), waiting to be gracious to you. He is a generous God and He promises to give wisdom when we ask.
The problem is not with God.
The problem is often that I try so hard to figure it out and finally run to God after numerous failed attempts.
That day, as I, in faith, asked God for wisdom, He gave amazing wisdom regarding my kids and picking up the house.
(I'm not sharing the solution He gave me merely because that's not the point of this post. 😉)
The point is this:
God gives wisdom when we ask for it!

He gives without condemnation and without reservation!
So, what do you need to talk to Him about???
Where are you lacking wisdom?
