The Queen of Excuses

I used to actually take pride in being "The Queen of Excuses." I mean I didn't think of it as prideful but I found myself saying it more and more. I'd tell my hubby, my Mom or commiserate with a friend, "Hahahaha!! I hear ya, I'm The Queen of Excuses" I wore that label like it was some sort of badge.

I can't _______ I don't have time! - I got 3 kids under 5. - We don't have extra $$ - I'm too tired. - I don't know where to start. - I'm an ALL or NOTHING person. So if I can't do all I can't do any.

Maybe that's why it hit me so hard when I heard our dear friend Amy G's challenge.

"EXCUSES are LIES in pretty packages."  -- OUCH!!! I mean as long as I was calling them excuses they didn't seem so bad, so ugly, so downright sinful. Excuses are just that excuses, right? But LIES. . . : / That's clearly a sin & believing a lie. . . That cannot be a good thing! - Especially for this "Rule Follower." Plus only a fool would believe a lie and nobody wants to act the fool!

My excuses don't hold water when I realize they are actually lies of the Devil!

The devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking who he may devour. I was struck by this quote from one of my favorite Authors
"There is an enemy and he is after something in your life and it is the truth. And I fear that we do not take [this] seriously enough. . . If I were your enemy, I would make you numb and distract you from God's story. I would use technology, social media, Netflix, travel, food, wine, comfort (EXCUSES - I added that ;0)  ). And I wouldn't tempt you with notably bad things or you would get suspicious. I would distract you with everyday comforts and slowly feed you a different story and make you forget God. Then you would dismiss the Spirit's leading in you, loving comfort more than surrender, obedience, and the saving of souls." Jeannie Allen

Not with blatant obvious things but by feeding us excuses and tricking us into believing lies.

STOP TAKING THE BAIT FRIENDS!

A complete mind switch is up to you!

No time            -- Fitting in the thing I'm avoiding has actually HELPED me prioritize better!
Kids                  -- My kids have become one of my most important REASONS not an excuse.
No extra $$       -- We find $$ for things we really want!  - Bonus now I get paid to do the thing I                                      avoided for so long! What a crazy switch THAT has been!
Where to start?  --  JUST DO IT!!! - Reach out to someone else who IS doing what you which to and                              see if they would be willing to help you figure out HOW to get started. . . You
never know you just might make a new bff.
All or Nothing?  -- Imperfect progress is still progress.

When we dig up the lies (excuses) and fill the holes with TRUTH we will grow because over time our thought patterns will change and new thought patterns lead to new behavior.
