Foodie Friday - Breakfast Favorites

Image
Looking back I remember as a kid my Mom ALWAYS made us breakfast each morning and despite my friends telling me the only WISHED their Mom's would I really did not appreciate it like I should have. Well, now I know how she felt as I have been making homemade breakfast for my family for a couple years now and my kids have shared similar feeling with me as I had back then. "Why can't we just a have cereal?" - If they only knew how much easier it WOULD BE to let them "just have cereal!" BUT Mamma's knows best that "Nothing WORTH having comes EASY" including good health. So I figure if this has been a struggle we are working to overcome it might possibly be in your home as well.  For this weeks Foodie Friday Post I'll share a few of our families favorites I have come across recently that have gotten the thumbs up from my kiddos AND hubby! Fruit Crisp - Compliments of Amy Garland (this is the one I shared earlier this week on my FB page and ...

Living with a WHY far greater than YOU!

One of the most surprising things in my journey toward more intentionally pursuing a healthy lifestyle this last year, has been the way God has been opening my eyes to the reality that every aspect of my life is connected and is meant to be lived as unto Him. I used to pursue discipline for the results I would see in my body, or to avoid feeling guilty later, or because I worship at the altar of productivity. And truth be told, I still fall into those habits quicker than you can slip on a banana peel, but something has been shifting in my heart and mind, and that is ...

New Mercies

Have you wished even once this week that this world and your heart were not so broken? Have you longed for what could be, what should be? I know I have. I've wrestled and struggled with difficult news, and disobedient children. I've struggled with feeling frustrated and discouraged and downright overwhelmed. I've definitely longed for a break or a win. I don't know what you might be facing. A shattered dream? A broken relationship? Health issues? Financial strain? Resurrection Sunday came and went and now here you are - back in the thick of real life. And the thick of it is hard and painful and often, hopeless. Wesley had it right in The Princess Bride: But, in the beginning, it wasn't like this.  God walked with man. Everything was just as it should be. BUT WE FELL. From glory and into darkness. And so, we grope around in our darkened hearts and minds and we forget that "in the beginning the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us...
